Is my patient eligible to enroll?

We are enrolling individuals based on the following inclusion criteria:

  • Currently pregnant ≤ 28 weeks gestation
  • Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes (T1D)
  • Currently using an automated insulin delivery (AID) system
  • Aged 18 years or older
How do I refer a patient to the COSCLIP Study?

If you have a patient that you believe is eligible, please encourage them to complete the eligibility screen, available here. You can also ask the patient if you can share their name and contact information with UCSF to discuss the study. If they agree, you can send the patient's contact information to our team directly at [email protected]

Do I need IRB approval to refer a patient?

No. UCSF IRB has given permission for interested patients to complete the eligibility screen and for the COSCLIP Study research team to contact them once the screen has been completed. UCSF IRB has also given permission for you to refer a patient and send her contact information as long as she has agreed to send her contact information to us.

What will happen if I refer a patient?
Our research team will reach out to the patient by phone and/or email to discuss details of the study. If the patient is interested in enrolling, our team will complete an informed consent process remotely by phone and/or teleconference. Once enrolled, your patient will be asked to share AID system information with our research team, complete surveys throughout pregnancy and postpartum, and sign a medical release of information form to allow our research team to request medical records from you and any other providers caring for the patient.

You will not be asked to collect any information from your patient who enrolled in the study.

Will I be required to send any information about my patient to UCSF?

We will ask the patient to sign an authorization to release medical records. We will contact you or your office to assist us in obtaining medical record information.
