Dr. Gaw is a physician-scientist with translational research interests that lie at the intersection of maternal medical complications, placental biology, and population health. She has been a lead investigator in multiple large nationwide prospective observational studies. She was a Co-Principal Investigator for PRIORITY (Pregnancy Coronavirus Outcomes Registry), a national registry of 1,400 pregnant or lactating people with COVID-19. She was also a Co-Investigator for the ASPIRE (Assessing the Safety of Pregnancy in the Coronavirus Epidemic) Study, which enrolled 7,880 participants in the first trimester of pregnancy.
